The Brief
Design and deliver an engaging quarterly team away day for a large operational workforce of engineers and the management and senior leadership team. The brief was to deliver a day to build great working connections within the disperse operational workforce. This consisted of a strategic presentation, ideas workshops, team building, and a senior leadership evening programme. The day included industry-specific considerations such as limiting operational time impacts through travel plans and briefings, and logistics to accommodate engineering vehicles and equipment.
The Solution
Our solution covered design & branding, delegate management for a large disperse operational workforce, conferencing and AV support, an intimate leadership team evening programme, reward and recognition, and a team building exercise. Engineers channelled their creativity designing skateboards for the LondonYouth charity, who deliver projects on employability, youth violence, arts and culture, and youth social action in the areas local to where the engineers live and work. Skateboards were donated to a local residential centre where 77% of attendees come from marginalised low-income backgrounds.
The Impact
Highly engaged employees are 87% less likely to leave their companies than disengaged employees. This is particularly important in a disperse and highly skilled workforces such as physical engineering, where skills are in demand across the country and retention of employees is critical. Many attendees said that it was incredibly valuable to connect and meet to share best practice. The client was blown away by the hidden creative talents of the engineering teams and will run the event regularly going forwards.
